FAQ

Latex Wear & Care

Tips and tricks for wear!

  • Apply a liberal amount of silicone lube to yourself and the inside of the garment before attempting to put it on. Alternatively, you can use talc. It's really about preference of feel and look.
  • Avoid long fingernails, sharp jewelry, and abrasive surfaces when dressing and wearing your garment. Latex is stretchy and ultimately durable until it gets punctured or torn by a sharp object!
  • Be mindful that sunlight will cause latex to fade and will eventually degrade its strength.
  • Get a friend to help you put it on!

How should I wash my latex?

Fill a sink or small tub with warm water and a few drops of a mild soap, like Dawn dish soap. Swish your garment around in the soapy water and drain. Rinse with fresh water until the water runs clean. Refill the sink with more warm water and add a latex shine product such as Vivishine and swish your garment around until it is evenly coated inside and out. Hang to dry.

Alternately, instead of applying the shine product, you can simply hang dry and then apply talc powder to keep it from sticking to itself.

How should I store my latex?

Once dry, it can be stored on a hanger in the closet or folded in a plastic bag. Be sure it is shined or talc’ed before storage. Keep the garment out of the sun and away from regular clothing. Avoid it touching metal as some types can stain the latex.

How do I get it to have that high gloss look when I'm wearing it?

After putting your garment on, apply a latex polish, such as Vivishine Polish with your (or a friend’s) hands, or a soft cloth. Oils (like massage, olive, etc.) are not good for latex and will cause it to degrade over time.
